Promoting sustainable development, YGM's new breakthrough in SAQ

Sustainability has become a key factor in corporate operations. In order to reflect the automotive industry’s emphasis on environmental protection and sustainable development, the automotive industry is widely promoting SAQ certification. SAQ (Sustainability Assessment Questionnaire) is a self-assessment questionnaire developed by the Global Automotive Industry Partner Committee to evaluate suppliers’ performance in sustainable development.

YGM recently successfully passed the SAQ5.0 assessment. This version of SAQ5.0 has raised the standards, especially emphasizing the two major areas of environmental protection and human rights, requiring suppliers to meet higher standards in these areas.

The SAQ5.0 assessment process is comprehensive and multifaceted, including four key stages:

  1. Preliminary inquiry: Suppliers conduct preliminary self-assessment.
  2. Mid-term verification: Conduct a more in-depth investigation to verify the information provided in the preliminary stage to ensure authenticity and transparency.
  3. Discovery suggestions: Provide feedback and improvement suggestions.
  4. Corrective improvement: Suppliers implement necessary changes and demonstrate progress.

This series of processes ensures that all aspects of sustainable development can be measured and addressed, including “Company Management”, “Human Rights and Working Conditions”, “Health and Safety”, “Environment”, “Business Ethics”,”Responsible Supply Chain Management” and “Responsible Raw Materials Sourcing”.

As a company that cooperates with well-known automotive companies, YGM is well aware of the importance of this SAQ assessment and immediately took positive measures to prepare for the assessment. The company’s leaders attach great importance to and strongly support the project, always monitoring and actively promoting the progress of the project, and mobilizing all important departments to simplify and improve all documents and certificates related to the questionnaire.

Through the unremitting efforts of all employees of the company, YGM not only passed the SAQ 5.0 assessment, but also significantly improved its rating: YGM’s minimum range (MS) rating was upgraded from C to B, and its sustainability score increased by 21% (from 62 to 83), which also proves YGM’s commitment to sustainable development.

From the sustainable development scores of each module, it can be found that YGM scored 100 points in the two sections of “Health and Safety” and “Responsible Raw Materials Sourcing”, but still lacked in “Human Rights and Working Conditions” and “Responsible Supply Chain Management”. Therefore, this SAQ assessment is not the end. YGM is committed to continuous improvement and strives to become a leader in the field of reflective materials. YGM believes that as each supplier increases its efforts and accepts the SAQ 5.0 assessment, it will be able to lead the automotive industry on a more environmentally friendly and responsible path.
